Just a smidge of basic chemistry here. There is not a single chemical reaction in our body that does not rely on an enzyme. We are designed to get our basic enzymes from raw food. (Remember my saying that we are designed to eat 80% raw?)
 
Ok, so if we are eating 95% cooked food what impact does that have on us? Care to take a guess?
 
I work with both generalized high quality enzymes and also specialized enzymes. There are some circumstances, like someone who has been on acid blockers for long periods, where starting out with a good general enzyme may actually be a really bad idea, and could possibly be dangerous to them. There are other circumstances where enzymes designed to support certain organs might be of greater benefit.
 
If you are actually eating 80% or greater raw organic, you may not need any. But if you are like most people, you need to supplement.
 
Here's my rule of thumb.
  • A well prepared wholesome meal with some fresh, not cooked to death vegetables, and a nice salad, 1 generally is great.
  • Fast food or overcooked food, that's a 2 enzyme meal!
  • Oh, and a holiday meal loaded with carbs. You know the one that has you lying on the couch groaning, that's a 3 enzyme meal!
 
In addition, the use of enzymes between meals can help clean up the mess that has been created in your body by ignoring the above rules for years.
 
Again, specialized enzymes are available by use of a detailed questionaire or kinesiology. Or for that matter, plain common sense.
